English IV: First blog
When I started to study journalism, I didn’t expected anything, I didn’t dream with the power of this job like others of my partners. I was insecure, even a little disappointed. Maybe of the type of journalist that is more common to see on the television and heard on the radio, professionals who have lied, manipulated and ignored the reality.
In my first semester I read a book that help me to understand a few things. I love to read all kind of books since I have conscience to do it. I think that passing a page gives the satisfaction that you know something you didn’t know before. I’m losing the point.
So, in that semester I had to read a lot. In the ethics course (which was far of being my favorite one) I read “Sostiene Pereira”. This is a story of a journalist that decide to ignore the dictadura that his country, Portugal, lives. The man thought that is possible to live without a political participation in this job and he do nothing to report the situation. He changed his mind.
The story has a few pages, is not too long. When I read the story, the thoughts of Pereira and how this changed, I understand that is more easy for people to ignore. I really dream with a better life to everyone, but is unfair to live in the illusion that some medios want to show us and is more unfair to create this illusion.
I started this career without hopes, today I expected to be the honest enough to not cheat anyone.
At first I felt the same as you but later I realized many things. I'm sure you'll be an excellent journalist <3

Thanks for the trust.
BorrarYou are great. I love you.
I don't think we have to be so pessimistic about those "types of journalists" like you said. I think there must be many professionals with the "best" intentions but who work for people with "bad" intentions.
ResponderBorrarAnyway, you are an amazing person and I believe that you will be a great journalist! <3
