The person that I admire is Gabriel García Márquez, a colombian journalist that received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982 and created a new narrative gender, named the “magical realism” that it is part of the Latin American Boom.
García Márquez was borned in Aracataca, Colombia in 1927 and he died in Mexico City in 2014. He was a journalist, writer and guionist that is known as one of the most important contributors in the Latin American literature.
As journalist, the best known work of García Márquez was the publication, in the “Espectador” Daily, of fourteen chronicles that told the story of Luis Alejandro Velasco, a sailor that was in the shipwreck of the A.R.C. Caldas ship. This report inspired his book “Story of a castaway”, published in 1970.
García Márquez published his most famous book in 1967, “A hundred years of solitude”. This story is the graphic example of the magic realism and my favourite book because it is a different, special and well built story that it is coherent in itself.
I admire García Márquez for his narrative way of write, his passionate stories and his commitment with his people, his natal Colombia and all the Latin American zone, because he never forgot of where he came and that is evident in his texts.
